Manifestation Gifts

An explanation and at least two scriptural examples of each of the manifestation gifts found in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11. Verse 7 says that each one of us has at least one of these gifts of the Spirit.

  1. Message of knowledge – When the Holy Spirit speaks something into your heart about a situation or event that you could not have known otherwise.
    1. Jesus knew the woman at the well had five husbands and the man she was with was not her husband – John 4:13-19.
    2. Peter knew Ananias and Sapphira lied about giving all the money from selling their land. – Acts 1:1-4
  2. Message of wisdom – Usually goes hand-in-hand with knowledge.  It’s the God-given ability to direct others on what action they are to take to prepare them for what is to come in their lives.
    1. Jesus’ reply to the woman – John 4:21-24
    2. Isaiah and King Hezekiah – 2 Kings 20
  3. Discernment – Distinguishing between spirits (Godly vs. evil).
    1. Jesus and Legion – Mark 5:6-8
    2. Paul and the fortune telling girl – Acts 16:16-19
  4. Faith – Supernatural faith given by the Holy Spirit to believe for God to do supernatural things.
    1. Jesus and the fig tree – Mark 11:12-14,20-25
    2. Peter walking on the water – Matthew 14:25-29
  5. Healing – God healing a person when you lay hands on them and pray for them to be healed.
    1. Peter healed a lame man – Acts 3:1-10
    2. Paul healed many – Acts 28:8-9
  6. Miracles, signs, & wonders – God doing supernatural things through you to demonstrate that He is real
    1. Jesus calmed the storm – Luke 8:22-25
    2. Paul as he preached the gospel – 1 Cor. 2:1-5
  7. Prophecy – Hearing and declaring what God is speaking to His people today
    1. Jesus prophesied about his own death and resurrection – John 2:19
    2. Agabus prophesied about Paul being imprisoned – Acts 21:10-14
  8. Speaking in tongues & interpreting tongues – 3 Types
    1. Praying & singing in the Spirit – 1 Cor. 14:13-19 and Romans 8:26-27
    2. Sharing the gospel supernaturally where the person is speaking in tongues and other people hear it in their own language – Acts 2:1-12 (11 disciples speaking at least 15 languages.)
    3. Sharing revelation from God (requires an interpretation for the revelation to be known) – 1 Cor. 12:6, 26-27
